Mey Brothers
Mey Brothers  is a small brother owned custom surfboat design and boat building business located in Newport, Rhode Island.  Mey Brothers  is a business based on a passion for rowing and fitness and borne through the inspirations of Ray, Terry and Walter Mey.  The three brothers, who grew up and learned to row on Narragansett Bay and the coastal Atlantic ocean waters surrounding Aquidneck Island, have been rowing and competing in rowing events since the 1970’s.  Ray and Terry served  for many years as  ocean lifeguards on Aquidneck Island and Ray was the founder and Director of the first Newport Invitational Lifeguard Tournament, which is still held annually at Easton’s Beach in Newport, Rhode Island.  Both Terry and Ray were members of the University of Rhode Island Crew Team in mid to late 70’s.  Walter is an avid rower as well, having recently competed and finishing second in the 2010 New Jersey State Rowing Championships. The Mey Brothers have designed a high performance surf rowing boat which encompasses years of rowing experience and knowledge of the demands of a safe and reliable boat to be used in an unpredictable ocean environment.  Mey Brothers boats are fiberglass in construction and integrate design features that comply with United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) National Class competition standards.  The boat can also be accommodate sliding seats in the event that the rower desires the opportunity to utilize this added feature. The boat can be rowed either as a double or single. Individualized custom design features can also be incorporated into the boat design  if desired.  We welcome interested customers to contact Ray or Terry Mey at the below email addresses for additional information:
